Our EasyHike Package is a fantastic alternative to a fully guided walk. You can walk on your own terms, with all the time-consuming logistics taken care of.
We move your car from the start to the finish, and provide all the hiking gear and food you need for your adventure, this great package makes organising your Great Walk hassle-free.
Easyhike is a local kiwi family business, Fiordland is our home and our passion. We’re here to help you make the most of your time in our backyard and would love to help you plan your ideal itinerary.

Fiordland is world-renowned for its breathtaking natural features, wilderness areas and natural history. Along with being a hiking mecca, Fiordland is also home to the lakeside towns of Te Anau and Manapouri and is the gateway to the jaw-dropping Milford and Doubtful Sounds. If you’re making the journey to Fiordland for your hike, why not stay a bit longer and make the most of our incredible backyard with a cruise or overnight stay in Milford Sound which you can add on to your package when booking online.
STAY IN MILFORD SOUND
Hiking the Routeburn Track? Milford Sound is only a 45-minute drive from the Divide (the starting or finishing point of the track) on one of the most scenic roads in New Zealand. Because of the shorter distance on the first or last day of your Routeburn experience, you’ll have plenty of time to fit in a cruise before or after your hike – or stay a little longer with an overnight in Milford Sound.
Hiking the Milford Track? Your final destination is Milford Sound so you’re already there! What better way is there to celebrate your hiking experience with an afternoon cruise, before heading to your next destination? Or why not stay a little longer with a Milford Sound overnight experience.

HOW CAR RELOCATION WORKS
- After you’ve secured your DOC hut tickets, book your car relocation with us online here.
- You provide us with your vehicle details and walking times.
- You don’t need to do anything different when collecting your vehicle. A few days before your hike, we contact your rental car agency to add our driver to your insurance agreement.
- You collect a lockbox from our partners in Te Anau or Queenstown.
- You fix the lockbox (with your car key inside) to your vehicle and start your hike.
- While you are walking, we move your car to your finish point.
- You finish your walk, locate your car and the key from the same lockbox.
- You drop off the lockbox back in Te Anau or Queenstown enroute to your next destination.

HOW OUR BUS TRACK TRANSPORT BOOKINGS WORK
- You make your booking online here.
- When booking, choose your required pick up times and note preferred pickup location.
- We will make your transport booking on your behalf with our preferred transport operator.
- They’ll confirm your reservation with us and provide a confirmation number.
- We’ll pass that confirmation and pick up/drop off details to you before your hike.

We have options for Vegetarian and Gluten-Free diets. We will do our best to cater to other dietary requirements as well, but please check with us before booking.

Cooking & Eating Tools Required
Great Walk DOC huts in Fiordland have cookers and gas for you to use, however, you will need your own pot, bowls, cups, cutlery, etc.
There are kitchen benches and sinks with cold running water in the shared dining areas, which is another reason why ‘just add water’ meals are handy!
Also, consider washing up. Our Gear Hire Packages include all the tools you require and a handy kitchen tidy kit too.
Just Add Water!
As food technologies have improved over the years so has good ol’ freeze-dried food – in a BIG way. Our new menu consists of many freeze-dried options as we have found these to be best when considering all the factors (oh so light to carry…). No more UFOs (unidentified freeze-dried objects) for dinner!
This also means it is super quick and easy to prepare your meals. Simply add water (hot or cold), and wait 5 -10 minutes.
Please note: We can still provide plant based dinner options that are not freeze dried – if this is your preference. You would simply heat them in a pot of boiling water. These options are heavier to carry.
Food Safety
Food safety is also a big priority for us, so all meals and snacks are packed and prepared in safe and hygienic environments.
Crafty Weka Bars are packed with nuts, seeds and low GI carbs for sustained energy. Natural sugars provide fast-acting glucose for get-up-and-go and slower-absorbed fructose for improved performance. Honey is also a natural preservative that keeps your Crafty Weka Bar at peak freshness.
