The Hollyford River meets the Tasman Sea at Martins Bay on the rugged Fiordland coastline just north of Milford Sound. We are spoilt for choice with the many things to see and do around Martins Bay due to the nature of this remote location.

Fly to Martins Bay from Milford Sound and get your bearings of the valley with a birds eye view of this special Fiordland spot.

Watch out for Fiordland penguin and fur seal colonies on the coastline, or even the remarkable sight of dusky dolphins fishing in Lake Mckerrow. Read some remarkable human history tales of early settlers living not far up the valley at Jamestown and develop a new sense of admiration for many of those who lived in these parts. Once you have finished discovering Martins Bay (Martins Bay DOC hut is a great place to escape for a few days), catch the Jet boat inland over the lake and up the Hollyford River admiring the towering peaks so far above you with water tumbling down their steep mountain sides.

Choose to stay at Lake Alabaster DOC hut or walk along the valley towards Hidden Falls (another DOC hut at Hidden Falls). You can tailor your Hollyford Valley experience to your schedule.

Easyhike will transfer your car from Milford to the Hollyford road end meaning you have complete independence to continue on your way. Less hassle, more hiking.
